9.1.2021 Juno Beach - On September 11, 2021, we will mark the passage of two decades since the day that changed our lives forever in the United States. A day when many generations first had reason to question our own safety in our homeland.
A sad day in American history: when thousands lost their lives, and heroes were made.
Members of Loggerhead Fitness will honor the memory of those that gave their all, with a super hard, superhero 9/11 workout. The creator of the workout is retired NYPD officer James Meers. The idea to host the event was ignited by member Paul Bychowsky. ‘We want to pay honor and respect to the heroes, who without hesitation, paid the ultimate sacrifice. We will pay tribute to show our true heartfelt appreciation for each one of these heroes on this day; a day we will NEVER FORGET.’ - Member and Team RWB Leader, Paul Bychowsky
The 9/11 HERO workout will have four entry points – all four times have meaning as does the length of the workout itself: 102 minutes. Participants will complete a 2-mile run/walk, 23 pull ups, 343 air squats, 37 push presses, one body weight deadlift and finish up with another 2 miles run/walk.
‘We were excited to offer this to our members. We all remember that day, where we were, what we were doing. This was a day that changed our lives in America. The enthusiasm and pride indicative of the sign-ups is remarkable. We have not only members, but friends of members, as well as people who have no connection to the club calling and wanting to join in. It’s going to be a fantastic turnout and a moving tribute to experience.’ - Rick Opton, owner of Loggerhead Fitness.
First HERO workout time commences at 8:46 am – the time that the first plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. Three other times to follow.
